Update 01/21/2024: Attributes Update

Hello! This is the bigger update that I mentioned in the previous devlog, the Attributes update! As the name says, the main change of this update revolves around giving the attributes more reasons to increase them as you leveled up, instead of just relegating everything to BDY.

Currently in the game that I've been running for my friends (thank you so much for bearing with all these updates ^^" ), some experiments have been started regarding Creature spells and Creature spell-based builds, alongside more Enchantments, so expect either of these to start coming into existence from now, moving forward!


Rulebook

  • Attribute Changes
    • Body
      • Base Movement Speed reduced to 20 (alongside the Speed granted by the Sprint Action), but negative BDY values cannot reduce this any further.
        • With the advent of four new players to my game and 2 of them being Speedsters, It's become apparent that BDY is just too good a stat, especially for Speedsters. So, this is to bring BDY back in line a bit more, while also making it so that other Characters are not punished for making BDY their worst attribute.
        • on the plus side, You're never gonna move 15 feet or less per turn now due to your own attribute choices.
      • Similarly, Inventory max Load cannot be reduced by BDY anymore either.
    • Mind
      • Starting Focus upon entering combat changed to be equal to MND, minimum of 1.
      • Mind now also increases the amount of Abilities you can prepare.
        • As opposed to giving MND something like Spark or Focus gain, prepared Abilities is much nicer a bonus to give, because unlike the Leveling table that used to have it increase infinitely, Mind stops at +5.
    • Will
      • Max HP is now increased by 5 for each point of WIL above 0.
        • In making Planeswalker HP low and only increase in increments of 5 every 4 levels, I have come to realize that I've essentially boxed myself in in terms of the possible damage dice I could put on enemies without absolutely decimating them with a single well-placed swing, and so now this is to help assuage that problem without devaluing the THP and Healing options present as of now.
  • Archetypes
    • Weaponmaster's Favored Weapon - +2 Armor, +1 to Attacks
      • The bonuses were backwards, and bonuses to Attacks seem a lot more common than more Armor, thus they were swapped.
    • Speedster's Static Strike - +1 damage Forward this turn
      • This is to clarify that the damage bonus only applies ONCE during the turn it's built up (but with enough speed you can build it up twice and use it twice).
  • Job Actions
    • Survival Kit and Smith's Tools' Job Actions have been changed to roll with +MND instead.
  • Forgetting/Overwriting Abilities
    • Now, only Abilities Tier 3 and above refund EXP when unlearned or overwritten with a new Ability
  • Tags
    • Healing, Fast-use and Slow-use moved to a new section called "Item Tags"
    • Stunned Status -  “Cannot use Abilities, Reactions, Items, and unable to Move and gain Focus for 1 Turn.”
    • Versatile - Bonus for Two-handing changed to +2 to Damage and +2 Armor
    • Rampart - changed to Rampart N to grant N Focus (instead of 1), and is rewritten to include dynamic ranges whenever it's written.
      • After a player mentioned it to me, I've come to realize as it is is somewhat boring- 1 more armor, restrictive close range, and the only weapon that has it doesn't have a damage die. Thus it's been changed to allow more scaling (also partially because of the change to WIL increasing HP now, too)


Abilities and Items Database - Mainly just reflecting the change to the Rampart Tag

  • Abilities
    • Animus (Green Spell TIER) - Rampart 2 within Close
    • Keyword Mastery: Green (Green Spell TIER) - Rampart 2 within Close
    • Keyword Mastery: Green (Green CMD) - Rampart 4 within Breath to self.. Rampart 2 within Nearby to all party members...
  • Items
    • Battle Standard - Changed to Rampart 1 within Nearby
    • Greatshield - Armor increased to 5 from 3
