Patch Notes JUN 2025

Hello everyone,

With this update I'll be starting a new scheme for releasing updates: releasing patch notes ahead of time, at least 24 hours before they are implemented. This gives time for players and GMs to go through the changes and adjust any characters accordingly. This will also be tied with a new type of announcement unique to the Discord Server called Patch Watch announcements to tease some of the more pertinent or important changes of the upcoming update.

After this, I'll be looking into removing or changing abilities that are no longer needed, primarily redundant Commands.

  • Rulebook Changes
    • System
      • New Damage Types
        • Abilities now specify three different types of damage: Spell, Skill, and Attack Damage. This change is already implemented. 
      • Armor now also applies to Skill Damage
      • Deathtouch Keyword now applies to Skill damage
      • Clarification on Enchantment effects and controllers in the Spell Types section.
        • Some Enchantments can have effects that are limited to or use their controller as reference, often denoted by the use of the word "You" or "Your". Effects that refer to "An opponent" refer to an opponent of the controller.
    • Actions
      • New Sparkmend(+CAST)
        • When you use your accumulated power to revitalize your body, Lose all your Spark and roll + your Casting Attribute.
          15+: Heal for 10 HP for each Spark you lost this way. Gain Burnout.
          11-14: Heal for 5 HP for each Spark you lost this way. Gain Burnout.
          10-: Heal for 2 HP for each Spark you lost this way. Gain Burnout.
      • Wait Action now also Grants 1 Focus.

      • Artificer’s Stored Spell
        • Reworked: [Action], [2X Stamina]: An Artifact you control and touch gains “[Sacrifice this Artifact]: You may cast a Tiered Spell with Tier X from this Artifact without paying its Focus Cost.”

        • Stamina Cost Doubled
      • Stolen Defense (Blue Signature)
        • Replaced Ignore Armor with +2 Piercing
      • Blitz (Red Mastery)
        • Reworked: At the end of your turn, if you did not Attack or Cast this turn, Gain a Blitz Counter, up to 3 Blitz Counters, Constant this encounter. Spend a Blitz Counter: Gain an Additional Action this turn only to Attack or Cast Tiered Spells.
      • Fog (Green Signature Spell)
        • Removed Split-Second
        • Now also prevents Skill Damage
      • Glade Protector (GW Mastery)
        • Reworked Slightly: When you Defend, double your Armor this turn. This applies only once each turn. When you Defend another Combatant, you may change the Target of Spell that Targets them to yourself.
      • Clockwork Fighter (UW Mastery)
        • Now alternates between +2 Spell and Skill Damage instead.
      • Artillery Caster (UGR Mastery)
        • Reworked: Your Spells have Trample. Damage dealt by Spells you Cast to Targets at Near and further is increased by your personal Damage Die.
      • Tormentor (UBR Mastery)
        • Clarified to only work on Instants and Sorceries.
        • Now only applies to Spells that cause only one Target to lose HP
      • All for One (WUBRG Mastery)
        • Now grants +2 Attack and Spell Damage per color instead.
      • Internal Bruising (Black Tiered Spell)
        • Duration reduced to Forward
        • No longer grants Spell Damage Taken
        • +[5/8/12] reduced to +[5/8/10]
      • Reckless Wielding (Red Tiered Spell)
        • Attack Damage increased to [2/2/3] from [1/2/3]
      • Shatter (Red Tiered Spell)
        • Tier increased to 3 from 2
        • Reworked to destroy Target Nonlegendary Artifact within Close.
      • Combined Keyword: Pith (UB Tiered)
        • Reworked to grant Null 2 and Deathtouch instead.
      • Wither (Black Tiered Spell)
        • Now always grants Weakened
        • Slow value increased to [10/10/15] from [5/10/15]
        • Damage reduction scaling replaced with duration scaling [1/2/2] Turns
      • Keyword: Green (Green Tiered Enchantment)
        • Deathtouch as final Scaling changed to Vigilance
      • Bottled Mist (Green Tiered Artifact)
        • Now also prevents Skill Damage.
      • Counter Stance (Blue Tiered Skill)
        • Ignore Armor replaced with [Piercing 1/ Piercing 2/Ignore Armor]
      • Mental Oasis (Blue Skill)
        • Reworked
        • When you are Targeted by an Attack or Spell, you may spend up to 3 Mind Counters. Gain -[2/3/5] Attack and Spell Damage received Forward for each Mind Counter Spent this way.
      • Runic Riposte
        • Reworked
        • When an Enemy performs an Ability within Close of you, Gain +[2/3/5] Skill or Spell Damage if the Ability was a Skill or Spell, respectively.
      • Death Can Earn Me (Black Skill)
        • Reworked
        • When you fall to 0 HP, You may Rekindle immediately with a +[1/2/3] to the roll. Lose Stamina equal to your Rekindle roll.
      • Backswing (Red Skill)
        • Tier Increased to 3 from 2
      • Dragon’s World-Shaking Roar (Red Skill)
        • Reworked
        • When you gain your third Chaos Counter this turn, spend all your Chaos Counters. Your Attacks also deal 1d6 Skill Damage for every 3 Chaos Counters spent this way to each other Combatant within Nearby this turn.
      • Duelist’s Gaze (Red Skill)
        • Attack Damage bonus changed to Skill Damage bonus.
      • Tiger’s Bravery (Green Skill)
        • Attack bonus increased to +3 from +2
        • Duration increased to 2 Turns.
        • Damage taken reduction instead prevents the next source of damage you take.
      • Cobra’s Flashing Fang (Green Skill)
        • Weaken and Poison duration changed to 2 Turns.
      • Bloodrush (RG Skill)
        • Reworked
        • When your Attack or Skill kills an enemy, If you don't have Haste, gain Haste for 2 Turns. If you don't have Trample, gain Trample for 2 Turns. If you have both Haste and Trample, Gain Empowered for 3 Turns..
      • Echoing Truth (Blue Skill)
        • Removed Null
      • Burning Desire (BR Skill)
        • Range reduced to Near
        • Activation condition specified to just Attack Damage
      • Lycka, Tide of Truth (Blue Legendary Creature)
        • Casting Condition changed to “You have copied 5 different Spells this encounter.”
        • Replaced Ignore Armor and THP with Flash.
        • Triggered Ability changed to copy only your noncreature spells
        • Base HP reduced to 75 from 100.
      • Spore Frog (Green Creature)
        • Now also prevents Skill Damage.
      • Greater Illusion (Blue Command)
        • Illusions now Exile their Attacker instead of Unsummoning them.
      • Dark Bargain (Black Command)
        • Demon Token HP increased to 72 from 36
        • Demon Token Damage Dice increased to 6d6 from 1d12
      • Chain Lightning (Red Command)
        • Reworked Slightly
        • Deal 4d12 Spell Damage to each of up to five Target Combatants, the first Target within Nearby, and each succeeding Target within Nearby of the previous one.
      • Duelist’s Gaze (Red Command)
        • Slightly Reworked
        • As a Constant Effect, all party members gain +5 Skill and Spell Damage against a Combatant of their choice. That enemy cannot move beyond Near of them (this ends if the party member moves away instead).
      • Scrambleverse (Red Command)
        • Range removed.
      • Scapeshift (Green Command)
        • Renamed to Plant Mastery
      • Beast Hunt (Green Command)
        • Spirit of the Hunt’s HP scaling raised to +5 from +1.
