Update 01/06/2024: The Upscale Overhaul
New Year, New Ignited!
After working on it a little more, we have come up with what is potentially the final overhaul to the game, as the answers this overhaul presents bring the game to a state that best matches my initial vision for it while compromising on certain aspects like the simplicity and accessibility for players. Without further ado, here are the changes:
- Rulebook changes
- New Special Action: Taunt
- Expect future Abilities that use this status as well.
- Command changed
- Command Spell and Strike mechanics (double damage dice and free spell) removed.
- This means that Commands as Spells or Attacks are now just flavoring.
- New Keyword
- Permanent - Referring to a Planeswalker, Creature, Artifact, or Enchantment.
- New Special Action: Taunt
- Abilities Overhaul
- Upscaling Abilities
- All Non-unique Tiered Abilities now have 3 values inside square brackets [], like how Skills currently are. Both Spells and Skills can now use these Abilities by spending more focus to "Upscale" their effects, moving all scalings by 1 for each additional Focus spent, up to 2 more Focus spent.
- Non-unique Spells have now been assigned separate Tiers as their base effect, from 1-5 (Tier 5 and upscaling +2 leads to a 7th Tier Ability).
- Skills can no longer be upgraded by spending EXP, both Spells and Skills are learned and used the same way: Tier indicates EXP and Focus costs, and both can be Upscaled by spending more Focus.

- Levelling Thresholds
- EXP to level up changed to 5 + (1 for every 4 levels gained)
- Leveling beyond 20
- Prepared Abilities and Enchantment Slots no longer increase
- Levelling Thresholds
- Specific Ability Changes (as necessitated by the overhaul)
- Keyword Masteries: Signatures removed, and Tiered forms are now Enchantments
- Scapeshift - renamed to Plant Mastery
- Essence Snatch SIG - Range reduced to Close
- Threaten SIG - Range reduced to Close
- Resurrection - Signature removed
- Vitalysis - Signature removed
- Artifice: Inventing - CMD and TIER reworked
- Enchantment: Permanence reworked
- Enchantment: Arcana reworked
- Dominating Shout Tiered - Turned into a Skill from a Spell.
With this, expect some balancing changes as Abilities adapt to this new scheme, but rest assured: it is very unlikely for the core game to change radically beyond this point. Moving forward, support for Enchantments, Creatures, and even further support for Artifacts can now be written in, as Ignited is now in a stable enough form for me to start considering what things like Creature and Enchantment support would look like.
