8/10/2023 Cleaning Up + 2 New Archetypes


8/10/2023: Rulebook 0.12.3 and Database Updates

Hello once again! Currently, a semester is upon me again soon, and I have made quite some progress on writing Creature support...is what I would say if it weren't for more imbalances rearing its head (lord help me I don't think I'll ever get done fixing these things).

Anyways, included in this update are 2 new Archetypes, the Warlock (WIL) and the Weaponmaster (WIL), as well as a new Equipment type, called Trinkets, which are-- probably predictable at this point-- yet another source of passives (beyond just the Archetype and 3 Masteries).

Rulebook 0.12.3

  • You no longer gain Focus out of Combat
    • You now also start Combat with 2 Focus (Focus gain out of combat has proven messy time and again)
      • But if you are ambushed or Surprised, you start with 0 instead.
  • Actions
    • Dash Basic Action renamed to Sprint (because Dash already exists as a Spell, heehee)
    • Concentrate Action removed (Again, somewhat abusable alongside Focus gain outside  of combat)
    • Command: Spell buffed. You can cast a Spell you have prepared for free and then resolve your command effect.
    • Cast Basic Action Perfect Success Nerfed. The Instant on the Spell on a 15+ was consistently forgotten, even by me.
  • Alchemy Mechanics
    • Now Requires Alchemy Reagents (new item, see the Items section)
    • Potion options renamed
    • Added New Potion Option
    • Focus gain and loss effects nerfed to 2. It's cool that you can gain a lot of Focus in one go, but 9 is too much.
  • Items
    • Bombs given 1 Weight
    • Item list moved to Database
    • New Item Type: Equipment - Trinket
    • New  Item: Alchemy Reagents (3 Uses, 1 Weight, 15 Coin)
    • New Weapon: Battle Standard
    • Artificer's Tools (Trade Tools) renamed to Inventor's Tools. We found a duplicate item that's a Trade Tool and a Magic Weapon.
    • Melee Weapons now also grant Armor (Damage bonuses have also been rebalanced to accommodate)
  • Archetypes
    • Artificer Starting Weapons and Inventory updated (Collateral from renaming the duplicate Artificer's Tools)
    • New Archetype - Weaponmaster (WIL)
    • New Archetype - Warlock (WIL)
    • Passive Nerfs - Bonuses reduced to +1
      • Bard's Duet
      • Fighter's Force of Will
  • Tags
    •  Menace changed to Menace N.

Database

  • Renamed to Ability & Item Database.
  • Spells
    • Puppet Strings (Black) - SIG Range specified as Close.
    • Unholy constitution (Black) - T3 duration clarified.
    • Artifice Brewing (Colorless) - T1 to T3 reworded to Concoct or Brew
    • Fireball (Red) - Tier raised to 2, Range reduced to Far
  • Skills
    • Karmic Debt (WB) - Reworked into a Tier 3 Skill
    • Karmic Retribution (WB) - Changed.
    • Nimble - Distance scaling reversed to the correct scaling
    • Spiteful - Tier raised to 3
    • Sadistic - Tier lowered to 1, effect Changed
    • Battle Hungry - Bonus reduced to +2
